Counties with unfunded reclamation work

Kentucky communities will benefit from the RECLAIM Act and the reauthorization of the Abandoned Mine Land program. Kentucky has a backlog of 1,089 identified AML sites that are in need of reclamation and eligible for resources from the fund. The federal Office of Surface Mining estimates completing all the projects in Kentucky would require more than $400 million.
